Though the resort city of Oceanside is perhaps not generally popular, it is in fact more famous than what various groups of people might first think. Oceanside is where numerous Hollywood screenplays were filmed, and a considerable population of celebrities has lived. This is not surprising as Oceanside is a beautiful place. Like various resort cities in California, Oceanside is famous for its beauty, tranquil surroundings, and thriving culture.
Like many other parts of California, Oceanside started out as a village inhabited by Luiseño Natives, also known as Payomkowishum, which means "People of the West." The Luiseño people were baptized by Spanish missionaries, who introduced grazing and farming, which paved the way for urban progress. When the area was integrated into the United States of America, it was a thriving beach town. The sea is perfect for refreshing the semi-arid landscape.
Nowadays, Oceanside is a successful part of San Diego County. The population is highly diverse, just like the rest of the state. Though most of Oceanside's residents are Caucasians, other ethnic groups like Native Americans, Asians, Hispanics, Pacific Islanders, and African Americans also make their home in Oceanside. Such mixed demographics render this resort town a cosmopolitan atmosphere. Excursionists can revel in the beautiful landscapes, excellent excursionist facilities, and the city's amazing historic and cultural features.
Oceanside features a rich array of fantastic beaches. Such beaches are so wonderful that a lot of houses are situated along the coastline. The Oceanside Boulevard Beach is one of the most frequently visited beach areas in Oceanside, mostly due to it is more of a swimmers' area than other surrounding beach areas. Oceanside Pier is also one of the most widely recognized extended piers in the West Coast. It is a frequent site for fishers and surfers. There is also a restaurant at the end of it, where guests can delight in comfort food while smelling the cool ocean breeze.
Neighboring Oceanside Harbor has a beach spot of its own, in addition to a beautiful hotel with adjoining stores. Oceanside Harbor is a fantastic place to go fishing, surfing, as well as whale watching. Families and friends can come here for picnics and barbecues, or to rent kayaks to discover the nearby waters.
Art and history buffs will most likely enjoy Oceanside too. History enthusiasts will enjoy paying a visit to the Mission San Luis Rey, which showcases an art gallery and an active retreat center. The Rancho Guajome Adobe is a ranch showcasing the city's timeless Hispanic history. There is also the Oceanside Museum of Art with emphasizes five new exhibits every year. There is truly something for every traveler in this unique beach front resort.
