Even though the resort city of Oceanside is perhaps not widely popular, it is actually more popular than what various groups of people might first think. Oceanside is where a lot of Hollywood movies were filmed, and a good number of celebrities have lived. This is no surprise because Oceanside is a picturesque place. Like many resort cities in California, Oceanside is notable for its beauty, peaceful environment, and distinct culture.

Like many other parts of California, Oceanside began as a village occupied by Luiseño Natives, also known as Payomkowishum, meaning "People of the West." The Luiseño people were evangelized by Spanish priests, who introduced grazing and farming, thus paving the way for urban growth. When the village was incorporated into the United States of America, it was a thriving beach location. The ocean is recommended for rejuvenating the barren land.

Today, Oceanside is a flourishing part of San Diego County. The population is extensively diverse, just like the rest of the state. Though almost all of Oceanside's inhabitants are Caucasians, other ethnic groups like Hispanics, Pacific Islanders, Native Americans, Asians, and African Americans also make their residence in Oceanside. Such mixed ethnicity provides this resort town a cultivated atmosphere. Excursionists can enjoy the beautiful sceneries, outstanding excursionist amenities, and the city's impressive historic and cultural possessions.

Oceanside features various marvelous beaches. These beaches are so magnificent that various homes are settled along the coast. The Oceanside Boulevard Beach is one of the most frequently visited beach areas in Oceanside, mostly because it is more like a swimmers' area than other surrounding beaches. Oceanside Pier is also among the most widely recognized extended piers in the West Coast. It is a frequent site for fishers and surfers. There is also a cafe at the end of it, where tourists can appreciate comfort food while smelling the refreshing ocean breeze.

Neighboring Oceanside Harbor has a beach spot of its own, in addition to a stunning hotel with adjacent stores. Oceanside Harbor is a terrific location to go fishing, surfing, as well as whale watching. Families and friends can come here for picnics and barbecues, or to rent kayaks to explore the neighboring waters.

Art and history enthusiasts are bound to enjoy Oceanside too. History lovers will love dropping by the Mission San Luis Rey, which houses a museum and an active retreat center. The Rancho Guajome Adobe is a ranch showcasing the city's nostalgic Hispanic past. There is also the Oceanside Museum of Art with showcases five new exhibits every year. There is really something for every tourist in this unique seaside resort.
