Before he had even finished school, the MySpace and YouTube channels dedicated to Chipmunk songs and Chipmunk music videos were already receiving millions of plays from his huge fan following. But do not make the mistake of thinking that just because he is young he is new to the scene. For all that its worth, Chipmunk has seen it all and done it all. At the age of just 15, he had started producing and self-releasing mixtapes of his songs and was buying CDs in bulk and selling them to his mates at school.
In 2008, he signed a record deal with Columbia Records, Sony Music and began recording his first debut album. The much talked about single from the album, "Chip Diddy Chip", which charted at number twenty-one on the UK Singles Charts. The next single that he released was a collaborative effort with Emeli Sandé called “Diamond Rings”. The song was the first top ten hit of the careers of both the artists.
However, the next single was the one that took the career of this young rapper to new heights. This song was "Oopsy Daisy", the third official single from his debut album “I am Chipmunk”. It was accompanied by a hit Chipmunk music video. It featured guest vocals from Dayo Olatunji and was written by Talay Riley and debuted at number-one on the UK Singles Charts. Later it gained a certification of Silver by the BPI as is still the most successful single of Chipmunk songs till date. His album itself charted at number seven on the UK R&B albums chart and gained a Platinum certification from the BPI.
More recently he's been working and touring with N-Dubz and featured on their album Uncle B. He also put his MC talents to DJ Ironik's top 5 single Tiny Dancer. His next release, 'Look For Me' was also a top 10 hit. After making a gross income of £1,550,000 last year he has officially been named the highest paid rapper in the United Kingdom. His latest album “Transition” is also a similar blockbuster. There is just no stopping this young artist from achieving heights the likes of no other.
