There are so many great television shows today that it is difficult to pick where to spend our limited hours.  Recently many programs are deciding to try and tackle between comedy and drama.  This style seems to work nicely as the viewer can go through a wide range of feelings within an episode or week to week.  Below are three recent shows that do a great job of being a drama as well as a comedy.

Bones - Dr. Temperance Bones Brennan (Emily Deschanel) is a forensic anthropologist that is employed at the Jeffersonian Institution.  Accompanying Dr. Brennans amazing ability to find clues from looking at victims bones, she is also a novelist on the side.  On occasion law enforcement will call on her to help out with difficult crimes where the victim's remains are too mutilated to study.  Dr. Brennan is teamed up with Special Agent Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz) who is not a big believer in science and the people who go with it.  The relationship between Brennan and Booth has been a developing one since the inception of the series.  Brennan and her team of unique individuals must work together to solve difficult crimes every week.

The Mentalist - The Mentalist follows Agent Lisbon and the California Bureau of Investigations as she and her team try to solve difficult murder crimes.  The main character, Patrick Jane (Simon Baker), helps Lisbon and the CBI using his developed skills as a mentalist.   Jane uses his skills at reading others to quickly find out who is involved and of course who is guilty of the crimes the Californial Bureau of Investigations is solving.  Jane is always keeping things moving as he uses some unconventional tactics to get the victims to come forward and admit their guilt.  The Mentalist is a great mix of drama and humor as the overall theme follows Jane's attempt to find Red John, the individual responsible for the murder of his wife and child.  There is a lot to uncover but Jane, Agent Lisbon and the entire CBI team keep it all very suspenseful.

White Collar - White Collar is a crime drama on USA network that tracks Peter Burke (Tim DeKay) and the FBI team as they try to solve some of the toughest crimes. The key to this team's success is Neal Caffrey (Matthew Bomer) who, in his former life, was a white collar criminal, and now uses his previous smarts to help find the criminals. Neal Caffrey was discovered by Peter Burke and has agreed to now help him as a trade for his limited freedom. Neal does have to wear a GPS tracking device at all times which ads humor to an already well scripted show. If you are in the mood for a smart crime drama to watch, check out White Collar on USA Network.
